In my long life (50 years) I've seen many Prime Ministers, from Super Mac, Douglas-Home, Wilson, Heath, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown and now Cameron.
Many of these ex PM's had their faults, they had many problems during their premiership, some had Cabinet collegues who were useless, incompetent or crooked, but the one trait they all had in common was that they were in control. They knew how to control their party, they knew how to get their manifesto promises through Parliment and they where in control.
The current incumbent has none of these qualities. He migh be the most facist, rightwing, extreme PM we have ever had, who is determined to get his slash, sell and burn approach to the Public Service, and Public Assets through, despite the cost to the economy and the people of this Country. He is quite happy to use his so called partners in the coalition to put out the bad news while he smiles that cold acid smile and gives us the so called good news, I wonder sometimes if he was bullied as a child, and he retaliated, starting at first pulling wings off flies, moving onto torturing puppies for fun, while all the time beaming an angelic smile to his elders and bettters.
Despite all his ruthlessness, his lack of judgement in giving Andy Coulson a job as his propagandist in chief, shows worryingly that he might not not have his wits about him much of the time. What on earth did he think he was doing appointing someone who had resigned his post as the editor of a national tabloid because journalists, directly under his control had broken the law, apparently without his knowledge. It begs the question what was Andy Coulson doing if he didn't know exactly what his reporters where up to, what sort of incompetent manager was he who wasn't aware of source of the juicy stories his reporters were bringing to him. At best Coulson was an utterly useless manager of people at worst he was up to his neck in it.
In either case to appoint him in such an important position shows Camerson's lack of judgement, and to allow him to carry on in post when, everyone in the UK knows Coulson is guilty, shows a lack of a backbone that every PM needs. In addition the recent reports indicating that Cameron doesn't really know what his Cabinet Ministers are up to, and in particular didn't realise the extent of reform of National Health Service that was being planned, shows that for most of the time, he is disengaged from the job of PM.
There is a rumour that Coulson was only sacked when Murdoch called Cameron and told him either Coulson had to go or his papers would turn on him. While this seems a little far fetched, given the close relationship between the Culture Secretary Jeremy (C) Hunt and Murdoch it's quite easy to believe it.
So the question is who is really running the Country because it's not David Cameron.
